Gillingham’s latest signing is one for the future, and potentially the present as well, as Brighton’s Zane Albarus arrives at ME7 looking to embark on his first-team career.
The 21-year-old has cut his teeth in the youth and reserve sides at Brighton & Hove Albion, and has taken the decision to spread his wings and join the Gills in a bid to become a first-team regular at Priestfield.
“I’m so, so excited to be able to join and be on board with everyone next season,” said Albarus after putting pen to paper on a permanent deal.
“I think it's most exciting for me because it's going to be my first opportunity in the senior team, and playing EFL football, so being able to adapt, I think, from 21 football into a senior team, I'm excited for.”
