Whenever a player signs for a new club, they’re asked about the crucial pull factors that convinced them to put pen to paper. For new Gillingham signing Kadeem Harris, that factor was pretty obvious – manager Gareth Ainsworth.

Chatting to the club after completing his signing at Priestfield, Harris revealed the history he has with the Gills gaffer, which started when he was a youngster breaking into the first-team squad at Wycombe Wanderers while Ainsworth was a senior pro at the club.

“Obviously, I know the manager well,” smiled Harris.

“I used to play with him for a season. I know the assistant, who was the assistant last season, Dobbo. We've all got really good relationships, and it's been a couple of years now, where we've spoken. I thought that this time was nearing, and it's here now.“
