Young midfield signing Zane Albarus was one of the standout performers in Gillingham's EFL Cup defeat to Luton Town, but the level-headed 20-year-old said there's much better to come.

Albarus was named in Gareth Ainsworth's first starting XI of the season as he took up a role in the heart of the Gills' midfield. And while his performance was impressive enough to earn him the sponsors' Man of the Match award, he said there was plenty about his performance he can still improve on, and hopes to showcase an even higher level of performance in the games to come.

"I was really, really happy to start, because hopefully it's a reflection of my pre-season that I was performing well in that," he said during his appearance at the post-match press conference.
