It was looking all very promising, until one counter-attack with 10 minutes to go popped the balloon of optimism at Priestfield, and the ghosts of seasons past returned to haunt us once again.
On a day that offered plenty of positivity going forward, the same old defensive frailties returned against Walsall as we collapsed in the last 16 minutes to turn a 0-0 draw into a demoralising 3-0 home defeat.
