‘We have to be massively complimented’: Gareth Ainsworth reveals tactic that recognised his side’s improvement this season

Gillingham boss Gareth Ainsworth said that there were clear improvements at one end of the pitch, but a lack of creativity at the other as Gillingham drew 0-0 with Newport County.

Describing the response to last week’s defeat as “pleasing,” Ainsworth said that there were reasons to be happy after a relatively drab afternoon at Priestfield.

“I've asked the boys to react [after] last week, [and] we were better defending,” he told Gills TV after the game.

“We were superbly defending when we needed to. It wasn't that much there. It was free-kicks that flew in and long throws, obviously.
