After a busy summer spent refreshing and rejuvenating his squad Gillingham FC boss Gareth Ainsworth is absolutely bouncing as the clock ticks down to Matchday 1 in EFL League Two.
Ainsworth has seen 17 players depart Priestfield during the off-season, and made a dozen signings over the course of the summer as the club rebooted its playing staff ahead of the new campaign. Now, with the season opener coming this weekend as Walsall come to Priestfield, the gaffer is champing at the bit to get things rolling.
Chatting to Gills TV, Ainsworth was asked what he wants to have seen from his team after 95-96 minutes on Saturday, and his answer was pretty much in lock-step with what the fans themselves would want to see.
