Former Wycombe midfielder Nick Freeman has been with the Gills on trial, and it sounds like he's winning over his old boss again.

One of the unexpected positives from Gillingham's pre-season has been the emergence of Nick Freeman as a legitimate option in the Gills' midfield.

Freeman featured in the Gills' 1-0 defeat to Charlton Athletic, and showed up well again in the side's 1-0 pre-season win over Millwall.

The result itself was a happy by-product of a pair of encouraging performances against Championship opposition. And on an afternoon that delivered plenty of positives for the gaffer, the performance of Freeman was a welcome bonus.
