Gillingham have dipped back into the emergency loan market to bring in a senior goalkeeper ahead of today's EFL League Two opener with Walsall.
With Ollie Wright seemingly not quite ready to start against the Saddlers, and with last weekend's emergency loanee Owen Mason signing a permanent deal with Bromley in the week, Gareth Ainsworth has turned to the loan market once again.
As a result, the club has drafted in Ashley Maynard-Brewer, who earlier this week signed for Sheffield Wednesday.
Priestfield will be a familiar place for Maynard-Brewer, with the keeper previously joined the Gills on loan from Charlton back in 2022. Injury scuppered his first-team opportunities at the time, leading to his loan being cut short and the player returning to The Valley.
