Gillingham’s second summer signing adds youth to Gareth Ainsworth’s midfield options, as former Brighton & Hove Albion man Zane Albarus arrives at Priestfield.
Albarus has signed an initial two-year deal, with the 20-year-old centre midfielder arriving as a free agent following his release by the Premier League side.
Albarus has been a mainstay in the Seagulls’ Under-18 and Under-21 teams during his time with the South Coast club, and last season made seven appearances in Premier League 2’s main season, plus three more as he helped Brighton to win the Premier League 2 playoffs.
Predominantly a centre midfielder, he has shown his versatility by appearing at right back on a couple of occasions, and arrives at Priestfield looking to fight his way into first-team football and establish himself as a regular in the EFL.
