Tom Eaves has rejoined Gillingham FC. Here’s why it makes sense

SIMON HEAD: Former Gills target man Tom Eaves has returned to Priestfield. Some say “never look back,” but his re-signing could be just what Gareth Ainsworth’s side needs.

After a week of speculation following his appearance in the stands at Priestfield, former Gillingham striker Tom Eaves has put pen to paper on a deal to return to the Gills.

The big striker, who scored 40 goals in 97 appearances in all competitions for the Gills between 2017 and 2019, has returned to the club to bolster Gareth Ainsworth's attacking options ahead of a busy run of fixtures in October and beyond.

Gillingham's front line has taken a battering already this season, with Will Goodwin picking up niggling injuries during games, while Lamin Sillah was forced out of last weekend's match at York City due to concussion protocol after a head injury sustained in training.
