Gillingham's car-crash performance at home to Grimsby Town exposed some of the same old problems that have haunted this club for the last few seasons. Now, with the pressure starting to mount, Gareth Ainsworth needs to act, and he knows it.

Ainsworth's post-match comments have suggested that he knows that, despite his summer clearout, he still has some players in his squad who don't cut the mustard at League Two level.

Talking to BBC Radio Kent after Gillingham's dreadful 4-1 home defeat to Grimsby Town, the Gills boss didn't sugar-coat his thoughts as he bemoaned what he saw from his charges on a rainy, windswept afternoon at Priestfield on Matchday 13 and, for the first time, questioned whether some of the players in Saturday's team were actually good enough to be starters in League Two.
