It's been a solid, if unspectacular, start to the season so far, and while there are some fans who remain frustrated by our winless start to the campaign, a look at the bigger picture suggests there's plenty of reason for optimism.
Gillingham's summer transfer strategy seemed to focus on acquiring some key experienced heads, and surrounding them with young, hungry, talented up-and-comers who have the potential to play at a higher level. On paper, it seemed like a decent approach for a side at our level of football. But, just 25 minutes into the season, things started to go wrong.
