James Brophy's stunning second goal in Gillingham's 4-1 away win at Rochdale has given Gillingham's fanbase the shot of excitement and optimism it needed. But there was something else about that goal that perhaps carries even more significance than the remarkable individual run and finish itself.
Brophy's goals – both of them – and Gillingham's win gave our travelling support – the beating heart of the Gills' fanbase – something incredible to cheer about as we claimed our first win of the season in fine style.
But, as well as THAT goal, there was the realisation – if it wasn't already there – that in Brophy we have an outstanding player for League Two level.
