Gareth Ainsworth was happy with the response of his players as they claimed their first point of the season, but the positive result hasn’t clouded the bigger picture, and the clear need for reinforcements for his injury-plagued squad.
Ainsworth knows that, while he wants to run with a smaller squad than before, the sales of Sam Gale and Seb Palmer-Houlden, plus the injuries to key men in his squad, mean that drafting in more quality additions is an absolute must before the transfer window closes at 11pm on Tuesday, September 1.
“I think we've got to bring a couple in. I think we have to,” he told Gills TV at Highbury Stadium after Saturday’s game at Fleetwood.
