The announcement of Gillingham's squad numbers always makes the season feel like it's here, and this morning saw the club finally release its official squad list for the 2026/27 campaign.
In goal, on-loan stopper Ollie Wright takes the number one jersey, while in defence, new signings Sam Tabares, Conor McManus and Liam Gordon take numbers two, three, and four, respectively.
There's a shuffle in midfield, with Garath McCleary vacating the number seven jersey, which has been snapped up by new arrival Kadeem Harris. McCleary will revert to the number 12 jersey he made his own while at Wycombe Wanderers. Gillingham stalwart Bradley Dack keeps his familiar number 23 shirt, while midfield new boys Zane Albarus, James Brophy and Nick Freeman take up numbers 15, 16, and 22, respectively.
Up front, football traditionalists will enjoy seeing our three senior strikers all wearing traditional 1-11 jersey numbers. New target man Will Goodwin takes up the number nine shirt, while Ronan Hale steps into the number 10 jersey. Seb Palmer-Houlden will wear 11 for the coming season.
